...can i solve this? We were in an off road trip today and we got a big splash of water and mud, suddenly the transmission was in reverse without me touching the shift and when I tried to put it forward (in drive) it didn't worked. Then I put the shift in parking and turn the Jeep off. Now the jeep doesn't start, the transmission shift is in parking but in the dash it appears in the reverse position. I tried to solve the problem resetting the computer by taking the positive pole out of the battery for 5 minutes but nothing happened. I believe something electronically got wet with the splash and affected the computer of the transmission. Can someone help me please?
I did the error code diagnostic and this is the result.

error code 11 No ignition reference signal detected during cranking OR timing belt skipped one or more teeth; OR loss of either camshaft or crankshaft position sensor.

transmission range sensor must have gotten filled with water. Takes the place of old neutral safety switch but costs way more. it is located on the right side of trans on shift lever shaft as it exits case.. the code is most likely due to the fact that the engine is not cranking and therefore not producing a primary pulse. the only way I know to check the switch is to disconnect the connector and check pin to pin continuity in each range.. alldatadiy.com has a pin diagram for this on their database.
