Jeep Wrangler a good first car????

i am dying to get this car, but i hear it can get really noisy on the highways, and eats gas, help what do you think of it?
 
All in all a jeep is easy to drive. If lifted take it easy on the high speed cornering. Easy in stock form to get around parking lots and other crowded places. By no means a speed demon. The four is slow and underpowered. I would go for a manual tranny. Yes at highway speeds is a little noisy even compared to other soft top vehicles but the newer ones are far better than old ones until you add mud tires. As for gas you can expect any 4x4 to loose a couple over a same 2by model. Newer 5 speeds on the highway if not pushed can get around 20. A hard top is also quiter than the rag tops. as for first it is as good as others. Just if alot of driving was my thing this would not for the gas will kill you.

I just wanted to share my experience. I've never owned anything other than Jeep's. My first car was a Grand Cherokee, then I bought a Cherokee Sport. In April I finally decided to buy a used Wrangler that was in great shape. It's a '97 but drives like an '07, lol. I struggled for years with the decision to get one. Since buying it, I've had absolutely no regrets. It does use quite a bit of gas, and yes it's a little bumpy but hey, that comes with the Jeep lifestyle! It doesn't bother me because the good definetely out weighs the bad! I can't wait to go to Jeep camp on it. There is nothing more fun than taking the top off on a hot day and feeling the wind in your hair. And everywhere I go someone comes up and asks me about it. All in all I think a Wrangler is a great car!
 
3 of my friends have this car as their first. The ride is really rough, you can feel it all the bumps. If you're looking at a new one or an 2007 model, the ride is fine but anything older it is terrible. It is also bad on gas (14-19MPG). However, it is a cool car, if you go offroading alot, or live in a dry hot climate it's nice too have because of the removable top. You will always get attention with it as well.
