I'm buying a 4dr jeep wrangler sahara 2x4 automatic and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to buy a 4x4 instead of 2x4, i live in miami and don't think I'll have many chances to go off the road exept for the occasional trip to the everglades or a road trip. would it be worth it?, can I "play" off the road with a 4dr 2x4 jeep sahara? Thanks

For the extra cost of 4x4 for someone who doesn't go offroad, I think it is a waste of money. If you resell it in south florida you won't gain much in resell value. The extra weight reduces your fuel mileage driving up your expenses, and it does have to be maintained (change front axle fluid, transfer case fluid). It will cost slightly more to insure as well. Knowing this, is it worth it to you? You can take a 2wd Jeep offroad, just not too far off the road. Good luck.

the re-sale value of a two wheel drive jeep is not very good at all. you should get a car if you want two wheel drive. jeeps have good re-sale value but not the two wheel drive ones. the power train warranty will cover most of your added expenses should anything on the four wheel drive break and the fuel economy difference is not that much at all like at most 5 mpg which will save you like 10 dollars a month, insurance is something you will have to look into for the difference in that as well. good news is though out of all the packages jeep makes the sahara has the best bang for the buck
