jeep trouble code help?

my mom has a 04 jeep grand cherokee special edition 4.0 6 cylinder. today the check engine light came on. so i did the turn the key three times and codes p 0123 and p 1685 what are they?
yes i have read on the internet how to get the codes when you check engine light comes on. you put the key in turn until you see the odometer turn it off then do 2 more times. my 98 dodge dakota even does this i never used a scan tool
 
The code 1685 means a key security system in the ignition itself has displayed a error code , so I'd be wondering if you've tried a key lately that didn't quite seem to want to work or someonelse tried one or if your key itself is acting up.Sometimes the key's internal chip acts up or fails so keep that in mind.
Code p0123 is the throttle position sensor and you probably need to replace it but check the wiring and the plug in connectors for rust or corrosion and clean it.
