After getting stuck a few times in the mud, and other various places, and having to winch out, it is usually because the wheels are heavier on one side causing the lighter wheels to spin freely, having a locking differential would help, but i don't know much about them, the wrangler is stock, anyone have experience installing them? and any idea of the price range for parts and labor to install them? Would it require new axles, or can i get locking differentials with the stock axles?

Detroit locker runs about $500
Eaton electric locker runs about $650
Detroit ez locker $250
I have installed them all and like the Eaton the best for Jeeps and daily drivers. The detroit will chirp on the street and the ez locker will eventually wear out.
Average price to swap a carrier only is about $250.
You will not have to change axles.
DO NOT install a locker up front that is not air or electrically controlled if you want to be able to turn on the streets.
I generally do not recommend air lockers if you plan on running a tire larger than a 31"
