"I want to beef up my audio system in my 2004 jeep grand cherokee. I plan on keeping my head unit but want to add an amp and speakers and I don't want to spend too much, any opinions out there?

Sony's stuff works well and is pretty affordable. Don't buy the no name crap from Wal-mart like Lightning Audio though. There is a reason that stuff is cheap.

Good choice choosing amp and speakers. I'd say it's one of the best things to do to car audio/ video.
Alright, now, you should have tweeters in the dash, your front speakers are 6x9 and your back speakers are 6 3/4"
I'd try and get 6x9 components up front, but there's not a huge variety to choose from with 6x9 components. By the way, component is 3 different things, it's a mid, which would be the 6x9, then the tweeter, then theres a crossover which divides the frequencies up. Highs go to the tweeters, the mids like voice, some bass will be sent to the 6x9.
There's only 2 to choose from on this site, but I'd go with the Rockford set.

Or if you got the money to get these, I'd put these up front. I have CDT Audio all around in my car, so I highly would recommend them ofcourse though.

Then for the back, you need 6.75" Huge Selection for these sizes.
Something like maybe Infinity Kappa 63.9i

CDT Audio CL-6EX

Alright, these amps I'm posting will work only if the speakers are rated like the ones I posted above. It will need to be 4 channels.

This one would be the cheapest, but it will also be lowest in power. It's 60 watts RMS x 4, it's a good amount of power, but you want around 70 - 80 watts RMS
Pioneer GM-6300F

Hifonics ZXi 6410

That's just some what of a selection. If I had to choose out of those, I'd go CDT all around, or CDT up front, then get the Infinity and put them in the back, and I'd choose the Hifonics amp.

It will work, I'm good at choosing subs to amp, but I'm better at choosing speaker to amp, and I know how good door speakers can sound.

Dude buy a head unit. A new head unit alone will make your entire system sound 20x better. If I were you I would just get a 10" JL Audio sub, an amp, and a new head unit. The head unit will make your current speakers sound 10x better. The sub will replace the bass. Also the 1 10" sub will sound better than most duel 12" because your car dosn't have a trunk.
