jeep grand cherokee starting problem?

i have a 2004 jeep grand cherokee special edition and sometimes when i put the key in and start it there will be a key with a slash at the top right of my dash board. it will sometimes stay running and other times it will shut off (it came with remote start) so if i try it again and it shuts off i have to start it with my remote then put the key in and its fine
anyone know what the problem is?
