Jeep Grand Cherokee starting issue?

I have a 2000 jeep grand cherokee with 65k miles on it. Its been a great suv and hasnt given us any problems until lately. We had a very cold snowy winter (alaska) and now sometimes when you go to start it, it will not start without giving it gas. We had this problem once after the winter last year and a mechanic told us it was because of us not driving it for 2 weeks when it was so cold. That cant be the case now because we have been driving it every day and its now in the 50s and 60 with sun. Any ideas what it could be and if it can be fixed easily? Mechanics are SO expensive here!

100% you need a new battery. i have cherokee sport and its happen to me exactly like you said, i did change the battery and now everything its fine. buy a new battery and try buy battery charger, that help too in gold weather.
