Seems to be a rather occurring problem with 5.2 liter Grand Cherokee Laredos. This one is a 1998. Stalling happens mostly in reverse, though drive is also susceptible, and at lower speeds. CEL came on, scanned it as a P0420; Bank 1.
I've come to a few conclusions after doing a little research, but have not come to any hard evidence. Either the catalytic converter is out (which I doubt), the O2 sensor(s) itself (which is quite probable), or the O2 sensor wire(s). Before replacing the O2 sensor altogether, I would like to know if I should replace the catalytic converter instead, or just go with the O2 sensors.
The Jeep is mainly stock, though there is an aftermarket intake installed. 152,000 miles.
