Jeep Gr. Cherokee Check Engine Light: Problem shifting gears?

I have a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee, all time 4-wd, 4.7L 8-Cylinder - new engine in the vehicle, installed 2 years ago - less than 20k miles on it....regular oil changes.

Just yesterday, my check engine light came on and it seems to be struggling to shift gears - particularly when Im on the freeway and its downshifting as I take an exit. The vehicle chugs a bit (as if I accidentally pressed the O/D button) then it adjusts and seemingly drives fine after that.

I could be paranoid, but it also seems to be making a higher pitched noise as I accelerate -- as if its straining to shift into a higher gear. Incidentally, the gauge with the oil can (the oil pressure?) seems to be running high. This all happened in the last day and a half.

Not sure if its related - but I JUST had a new radiator put into my Jeep and when I returned home, my sub-woofer (that's attached to an equalizer and capacitor) is SHOT...it booms when I switch tracks. It was working FINE before I took it to the shop. Which leads me to believe maybe all of these problems are electrical? I assumed they would have had to disconnect my battery to install the radiator.

Im taking it to the shop today - but ANY insight would be helpful in case Im getting snowed.
