Ok, so it was time for my jeeps transmission to get a rebuild- it would shudder between first and second and would not shift at high RPM (it would bounce back and forth) Any who, i had the transmission rebuilt and everything was great for a week or so. it began to leak fluid so i had it towed back to the shop and had it corrected, but now it has electrical problems
its a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 4.0L
when pressing the brake pedal to slow down the speedometer drops back down to zero- even if you just tap the brake, well when this happens the automatic transmission puts itself into a neutral position. The transmission will not shift into third gear now, (overdrive) which i believe is a safety on the computer to keep it from burning up but i could be wrong though. Does the Transmission computer control the speedometer and could the computer be going out, causing these problems or something else could be causing these problems?
I know that both the speed sensor on the transfer case and on the back of the tranny were replaced, in effort to fix the problem, but no luck. The transmission had a new shift solenoid installed, but to do this they had to change out the wiring harness- i thought maybe something had been crossed wired but going through it several times everything lines up???
any thoughts, im so confused in this ordeal.
