Jeep electrical issue?

My 2000 Jeep Cherokee has an electrical issue. The passenger window sometimes does not work. Occasionally, shutting the car on and off will make it work. Where would be the best place to investigate, and what should I be looking for? I have decent fix-it skills, but not much car experience.

Thanks!

I just replaced a customers RF window motor, it would go down but not up. It was the motor not the switch. It's easy to install and Advance Auto has them for under $100.

One more thing to check for - when you try to put the window up, put your ear next to the door and see if you hear the motor trying to do something. If flipping the switch causes a sound but nothing happens, then the motor is going bad and will need to be replaced.

Also, does your car have a "window lock" switch? If so, be sure to check that switch too.

Remove the door panel and unplug the window switch and use a shunt to cross over the contacts for up and down on the window.

If it works flawlessly, then it is your switch that is bad.
FIRST CHECK THE SWITCH to make sure that it isnt the culprit.

If it is still intermittent, then you have a bad connection inside the door at the window motor.

Either the motor for the window is burnt out or there is a loose wire.
The loose wire would most likely be somewhere inside the door. so look online on instructions on how to open up a door and look for the loose wire or motor
