i just bought a 1989 jeep cherokee laredo and its got power windows. the drivers window would move up and down with my hand but when i pushed the button it just made the noise of it moving(but wouldnt). i took off the door pannel and i check it out and it wasnt hooked to the mechinism so i hooked it up and tried again. still didnt work. so i figued out that the motor wasnt pulling the thing up and was stuck. it looks pretty sticky. does this mean i need a new motor, the motor still makes the noise like its going up and down but not pulling the track. or is the track just jamed because its been sitting for a while? i dont think the motors done because it still runs when i push the button?

well the way you describe it i might just be the track is messed up
there should be wheels on one part that need grease or oil on them
along with a track with teeth than runs though the motor but other than that just keep messing with it till you find out if something else is broken
sounds like your on the right track "pardon the pun

hope this helps"

try to lube the tracks with some dry glide spray lube their could be something bent in there that will stop it as well try it with out the moron connected and see how smooth it goes up and down also the glass can get all out of wack in the tracks and not go straight up and down that will also stop it id go from there see how it goes

But it might not work when the motor has resistance to it, there fore when it is trying to roll the window back up ...it can't.

If you have time not money, try the other motor in the other window, or swap it with the rear, it it has one.
