I started out having the death rattle in the front end.. Replaced all tie rods and had it aligned and tires balanced.. Then I was left with a vibration, in the front or under seat area just at 50-60 mph.. I found a little play and somewhat loose u joint mounting nuts in the rear drive shaft u joints so i replaced the ujoints.
Now, all is well till I get to 55-60, I get a vibration but when I get to 65 it smooths out. There was still a little play in the transfer case ,in rear where it connects to the rear drive shaft u-joint. The xfer case was replaced a year ago.
Also maybe related or not when in drive with the brake on at a stop light their is vibration coming from below, but if you put it in neutral the vibration goes away.. (torque converter?) 175,000 miles.. no other transmission problems.
