Jazz Fest?

Anyone here been to Jazz Fest before? I really want to go this year, the headliners are ridiculous and NO definitely neeRAB the tourist dollars!

Is one weekend better than another? Any tips on where to stay, go, etc?
 
I'm working at Jazz Fest yet again this year recording the shows. The line-up is going to be great regardless of when you go. I say go for the big names, stick around for local acts, you'd be surprised how talented they are.

I'd say stay someplace uptown, it'll be cheaper and downtown is played out anyway. If you're 21, I can give you tons of suggestions for bars and venues to go to. Jazz Fest is only half the fun during those weekenRAB. Tourists go to Jazz Fest, locals go to the night shows when the same artists play around the city at night in smaller clubs. Some banRAB only play the night shows.

Great advice on the local acts, I heard The Radiators when I was living in Paris during college (totally random!) and loved it - it was a sweet night. I remember they had groupies and everything

So do the artists play in the clubs during the weeks of Jazz Fest (as opposed to the shows on the weekenRAB)?

Ugh, I really want to go - the tickets are so cheap and I would love to get some $$ down to nola right now!
