does japan use 220? thats just a simple converter from rad shak same with pal-ntsc but that doesnt work well with video games because of the delay, but doesnt japan use NTSC too?

The Japanese PS3 is region-free and the only thing you'll need to play them here are the power adaptors from Radio Shack.

Lots of Japanese PS3's are on Ebay.

My friend is about to go to Taiwan and was asking me if I wanted a PS3 for $100 cheaper. Would the PS3 work here in the states?

Well if not a Pal/ntsc or 110/220 then you get into the whole region coding (i havent done any research though ) but then all you could play is import games with.

Disclaimer.... I'm am not positive if they are zoning the games for the PS anymore
