jailbreak 3gs 3.1.3 on old bootrom?

Hi, i have iphone 3gs with old bootrom on 3.1.3 which is stuck on emergency screen. I tried jailbreaking on spirit but get error "failed to jailbreak, error code 1" . Can anyone help me out?
 
if its old bootrom , then u can use CUSTOM FIRMWARE.
if its new , you are doomed , you have to buy a SIM that activate it.
