Jail time for failure to appear?

I got a fix-it ticket a few months ago and subsequently a failure to appear. After finally appearing the judge tried to scare me by saying "do you know what happens to people that fail to appear in court? They end up in there" pointing to the holding cell.

A few months later I received a ticket for driving without my headlights on at night. I completely forgot about it and didn't show up in court. So I got another failure to appear. I can either pay the full bail amount of 850$ or appear in court and request for the fine to be lessened. Of course, if I appear, the judge may remember me and decide to put me in jail. Could he do that?

No he won't put you in jail, but they have a warrant for your arrest, and if a cop see's you he'll arrest you, and until you pay the fine you're in jail. Go pay the fine, for goodness sake, and stop being irresponsible.
