I had a friend who had to do swap & If I remember correctly( it has been a few years ago) You are actually not required to go to jail, but you have to show up every morning & work for the Sheriffs Dept. doing what ever it is they have for you to do, if you fail to show up , you have to do your jail time. You are Swapping your Jail time for Sheriff Work ( something) Program. I can't remember what the A stood for, how long you have to do it depends on the Judge & the crime & your fine*
