jail break the ipod touch??

I realize that the warranty is gone when u jail break it but my mom just renewed the warranty on it several months ago... and she dosnt want me to do it if my ipod is gonna break cuz the all the money she paid for the warrant for nothing. my friend has jail broken his ipod and i want to jail break mine but like i said my mom and older brother say no..but i am so tempted..is it a good choice to do or not? Its also the ipod touch 1g with version 2.2.1
 
i did it to my 2g ver. 2.2.1, and I did it, after a few tries. I tried 4 times and failed, and had to restore my computer, so unless you know a little bit about computers I wouldn't recommend doing it.

You can also just restore the iTouch if anything goes wrong...that is considering your computer works....
