J&M 7.25 Speaker Review

Glad you got everything installed and you are enjoying the improvement in sound quality! The setup really is amazing!

You don't have to use the enclosed acoustic foam if you choose to install the Dynamat. I used Dynamat in my fairing and it is perfectly fine.

Leave the button on the side of the amp PUSHED IN. If you push it so the button is depressed out, you will NOT get any sound unless you are using the RCA jacks.

J&M has pre-set the amp setting prior to leaving their facility. I think they have it adjusted just right. I wouldn't mess with it.

That's really it. Enjoy!

I purchased these speakers and should recieve them this week. A good place to get these speakers is Phat Performance Parts. $219 with free shipping.

SSSHHH>.. I made a phone call to DR.V-Twin.. $219.00 and free shipping.. Searched the web but could not find a better price.. And they are real nice to deal with.. Just sayin.... OH, and plus.. they are sponsors too..!!!

captsam54,

Thanks for the compliments! It is really appreciated! Our price on the J&M speakers are actually: $219.95 shipped!

Enjoy the speakers when you get them!

Glad you are enjoying you speakers! Yes, the music source is a big factor. To get the absolute best sound out of the 7.25" speakers, I try to run studio manufactured CDs or MP3s from iTunes.

Just imagine how your speakers would sound with the J&M 250 watt amp! The speakers really come alive with the amp!

This review is terrible and factually inaccurate. Bass is omni-directional. It will work its way around the tweeter and mids no problem. And just putting an amp on a 6" will not make a bad/mediocre 6" outperform a quality 7.25" (assuming it's a good amp to start with). In addition, the 6" will never keep up with the bass response of a larger 7" - again, assuming both are well built.

If both are well built the 7" will win every time in the "accurate reproduction of sound" category. That's not to say a 7" can be a 6" + amp in the volume category. But I don't think the reviewer was going for pure volume.

Just my 2 cents from an audioholic. Home system is Paradigm 5.1 studio series w/ the 690 center and Grado RS-1 headphones on an Integra amp. I know what I'm talking about in the "accurate reproduction vs pure volume" debate.

Until you hear the 7.25" speakers with the J&M amp in person or until you have the setup on your personal bike and have some personal experience with the combo, there is no point to comment negatively.

We have installed more than just a few of the J&M 7.25" speakers with the J&M amp and every touring bike owner has been very pleased, if not blown away by the sound results. Also, going by the rave reviews of HDforums.com members that have the setup is enough to relay how great they really are.

Truly the best bang for the buck in touring bike audio we have EVER tested!

Apologies - I was responding to a critique of the original post that said a 6" hogtunes (I think it was hogtunes) + amp setup would be superior to the J&M installation w/out amp.

And I stand by my comments that just because a 6" speaker (or any speaker) has an amp on it doesn't automagically make it superior to any other speaker - either larger or smaller. It may make it louder ... but not necessarily better.

For the record - I'll be ordering the J&M speakers in a few weeks myself.
