J&M 7.25 Speaker Review

what up

New member
Installed the 7.25s in my 09 SG today. Easy install, even for me. Have not gone out for a ride yet, but they sound great in the garage. Thanks Shawn at Dr. V Twin for great service and price.

One question--I almost crapped when I installed the first speaker and the conneciting pin on the speaker bent up sharply when I snapped on the small connector from the radio. Seems okay, but my question is, with the foam inserts, the foam in the fairing seems to be pressing hard into the connectors, could this damage the connections? Everything is working graeat now.

Thanks.

I found that the strap bolt coming off off the bottom of the fuel tank worked great on both the 2009 and 2010. And solved my problem on both bikes. I will take some pics soon.
But thanks for sharing your location i'm sure that works great too!!

Just got back from Laughlin Harley Run and had a chance to listen to the amp at the J&M truck.

I already have the speakers and was really excited to hear them with the amp.

The amp is an improvement for sure but only up to about 70% volume. Anything above that and there was a Ton of distortion! Why the J&M rep kept turning it up that loud to show off how horrible it sounded that loud I have no idea? Dont get me wrong Im not planning on listening to it at full volume I just assumed the sound would be clear up a little higher than that.

They were offering 10% off "show price" but it was still $70 dollars more than Dr V Twin's price.

They must have had the bass cranked up all the way. We don't have the bass up more than about 5 bars and treble about 3 and with the volume cranked up all the way, no distortion at all.

Come by the shop and I will demo the J&M 7.25" speakers with the amp and you will find that the way we have our treble and bass settings are optimum for the road and don't have any distortion at all. Not one bit.

Jasnusc ,,,,,,

thank you for coming by the J&M display at Laughlin ,,,, please always remember, one man

Well Im 32 one of the guys with us was 41 and the other was his 62 yr old Dad just to clarify we are all into different music.

We all made comments about how bad it sounded. It actually sounded like the speakers were blown it was that bad.

Just to be clear I love the speakers and specifically looked for the JM trailer so I could hopefully hear the Amp for myself. Not being an expert I wasnt sure if it was normal to break up so bad at high volume especially considering I probablly wouldnt ever turn it up that loud.

I still considered buying one on the spot until i realized i could save money ordering through Dr V Twin.

Definately NOT bashing the product just relaying what I heard.

Based on the 3 responses to my initial post I will make some time to get out to DR V Twin to give it another chance. Maybe the speakers were blown?

You are around my age, so I have a demo CD that I made with songs from Metallica, AC/DC, Godsmack and a couple Michael Jackson songs just to show how clean and clear the sound is at full volume. Also, keep in mind that it is pretty much how the headunit bass and treble settings are arranged. We are confident we have found the optimum settings for around town riding as well as high speed highway cruising.

There was probably too much bass and may have also depended on how much bass the demo songs had as well. I wasn't there, so I can't really say, because we haven't experienced any distortion at all so far no matter what song we have tried.

Come on by and you can hear how the speakers sound with the amp with a more accurate demonstration. We have a few more amps in stock, so if you like the way our speaker/amp setups sound, you can always pick one up right on the spot.

Thanks!

Shawn
