J&M 7.25 Speaker Review

We are getting our first Road Glide amps in today. We won't be doing an install until next week, at which time we will take pictures of it for the forum. It is tough to say how the install will be until we actually perform one. We will let you know though.

sandnessmj,

Glad you feel the way you do about the setup. I felt the same way when I tested the 7.25" speakers and J&M amp. Thank you for the kind words! It really means a lot to us and makes the hard word we do for the forum really worthwhile!

raafter,

We are certainly glad that you are happy with the speakers and amp as well. They sound awesome!

Enjoy the setup in good health and please ride safely!

Thanks again for choosing Dr. V-Twin! We know that you guys have choices on where you go to for your aftermarket needs and we are just elated that you have given us the opportunity to serve you.

Hey Einstein what are you selling? Got a better set up for us to consider? All I have seen is you bashing this product. If have knowledge of something better for similar money I would like to hear about it.

I would also like to know what you find so Crappy about this set up. Please be specific as Crap does not really tell me much.

There have been some very technical posts and links to the performance tests of these speakers, have you got anything to show us other than your opinion that they are Crap?

I grew up with a guy everyone called Einstein in grade school. Did you grow up in Illinois... LOL

As Shawn says no product is perfect but I have to tell ya
I installed 2 sets of J&M speakers without amps (cause we were waiting for them to be released) and they were a huge improvement over stock, and the install was very easy. Than the amps came and to be honest we had some trouble with the install on 2 different bikes. 1 an 09 Streeetglide and the 2nd a 10 Streetglide. The actual install was 90% plug and play and took about 1.5hours and was very easy to install and the kit was very professional. But for some reason the 09 had no sound and the 10 later lost its sound. Here is where the difference is with what product you buy, and who you buy it from. I was pissed cause i had probs but Shawn and John stuck by me and reassured me that i could simply return the items and gave me suggetions on how to fix the problem. That made me want to try and figure out why it was not working. To make a long story short it turned out to be a stupid ground problem and luckily i did not return the amps cause they f*&^ing ROCK.
I never bought anything from Doctor VTwin before and they are not my relative, or my wifes brothers friend, or nothing.
Shawn is an honest businessman and he stuck by me bro and i am happy with the results.
Thanks John and Shawn

p.s. Einstein you should put up or shut up and don't make derogatory comments about things you have not purchased yourself

The J&M amp powers ONLY the front fairing speakers. You don't need additional power for the rear speakers. The J&M rear speakers are nice and loud enough.

I,m running the amp and J&M speakers ,wondering if anybody has played with the gain controls ? Mine are set about 1/4 way up .

I grounded mine "2010 street glide" Behind the ABS brake lines holder the frame is nice clean metal behind there its a raised bolt hole. I used a thicker washer to fill the space behind the plastic brake line holder worked out good. Reading audio set ups on line all the big thumpers if you will
run a short ground from the battery to the frame and then ground amp as close as possible to the amp they use the same size wire or larger than the power wire. I know battery is already grounded but they beef up the grounds. On the 2010 street glide I know that there are 2 grounding posts under seat next to battery. Over kill I know with a small amp but I had # 8 wire left over from my truck audio install so used it. I ran short piece from battery to ground post then short piece from amp to location described above.

I am betting the gains are probably near spot on and just a tad under "clipping" they likely used a volt meter, oscilloscope or such to set the gains but if it is on "High pass" I would want to try "Full"

I recently purchased the standard J&M speakers to replace stock ones after all these years. My right side speaker blew and I was looking for new ones. I chose J&M and they were very easy to install, sound great, and I don't need any amp.

I ordered out of Dennis Kirk for $123.99, received them the next day, put em in, and I'm more than happy. Just my .02
