This is what your bike will look like with the tank and seat removed. My bike looks like this as we speak while we wait for more amps to arrive in from J&M. Amps are scheduled to be here TODAY!!! I can't wait for the deafening sounds from the combo 7.25" J&M speakers and amp!

Enjoy the pics!

J&M 7.25 Speaker Review

No sound when installing the new J&M amps !??!?!?! ,,,,,,,

here is what I know so far ,,,,,,

1 ,,,,, this situation seems to be limited to the 2009 model year Harley StreetGlide ONLY ,,,,,, 2009 Ultra

John, we have our 09 FLHX opened up here for an inner faring swap. Happy to test fit one of our in stock J&M amps for you while it's apart or anything else you might want, photo's etc. Just let me know.

Something simple that the original poster with the amp problems should double check if they did not yet, is to make sure the button at the RCA inputs is pushed "in" for Speaker Level and the button is not "out" i.e. looking for signals from the RCA inputs. It needs to know which way to get the audio signals.

We installed the J&M amp in both of our 2009 Street Glides and both of the amps worked and performed as designed per J&M. No problems here at all. We have conducted complete tests on both bikes and the sound being put out is simply amazing. This is definitely the best bang for the buck for the Harley touring bikes.

Shawn, the switch is on the J&M amp. Where you connect the wires from the amp to the stock speaker leads. There is the supplied connector and then 2 unused RCA connectors. The amp can use either either RCA inputs or Speaker Level inputs. J&M's setup uses the Speaker Level and you must tell the amp what you are using by selecting the switch. Sometimes it's the most simple things, hopefully that is all it is.

Phat T that is correct. After much head scratching I noticed this button. I thought great, this is it... Upon closer inspection it was in the correct position. I then tried in the other setting and still no go. This has me baffled. The only thing we have not tried is adjusting the gain and crossover controls that are hidden under the J&M sticker. I am not sure if these controls have a setting so low that this might be the cause for no sound. I am reluctant to remove the sticker as I am not sure if I could return the unit after removing the J&M sticker. If you think this might be the problem, please advise. John at JM if you read this would it be okay to remove the sticker and try adjusting these controls to see if it might work to fix the problem?

I did find a complete manual for the Arc mini on the net. These instructions are not clear as to whether these control would in fact go so low as to stop all sound from coming out of the amp. Please let me know what you think.

When reading the manual I noticed that this unit has an auto shut off feature to protect the amp from various problems. There are four codes listed as code 11,12,13,14. Dealing with over heating, shorts etc. The manual is not real clear as to how to interpret the flashing light. I left the manual at work so I am working from memory, and was wondering if you have any knowledge of reading the flashes to determine the fault.

Thanks Phat T for any input you might have as this has us completely baffled. For those of you reading this and wondering what i am talking about, read the Amp. install thread from J&M and you will see the problem I am having with NO SOUND from two different J&M amps for my 2009 street Glide...

I was a bit confused. Sorry about that. I must have read it 10 times and it didn't mention the button was on the amp, so I was kind of wondering. Thanks for clarifying.

Harleydog1,

What was the production build date on your Street Glide?

"What was the production build date on your Street Glide?"

Shawn the bike was made 03/09 got it first Of April.

We put the amp in the 2010 today. Works fine, very easy install compared to the 2009. Weird huh?

Installed the J&M amp over the weekend with my new 7.25 J&M speakers in my 2008 street glide. Took about a hour. WOW is all I can say. My buddies and I could'nt believe the sound, totally awesome, I highly recommend this setup. If anybody in the Bloomington IL or Peoria IL area wants to hear what these sound like you are more than welcome to come listen. Big thanks to Shawn at Dr Vtwin and to J&M. Again WOW!
