Super thanks to Terry over at PHAT PERFORMANCE, this is what i am talking about fast service and he explained everything to me on the phone, i know one can order online and i have done so with items, but sometimes it is nice to talk to an actual human being on the other side, i ordered my speakers and asked him to ship sometime next week as i will be on vacation for a week and he said NO PROBLEM, once again Thank You terry for your quick response and taking my order and explaining to me how these speakers will mount and all, look forward to my order on the AMP when they become more available...Ivan!

Here is a link to our J&M amp install thread with plenty of Pics. As the thread says, the sound is amazing with the amp. http://www.hdforums.com/forum/touring-models/497506-j-and-m-amp-install-just-completed-on-als-2009-street-glide-pics-here.html

Thanks Ivan for the super kind words! Hearing such nice words makes our day, so your post made a great end to a very busy day. I have to thank you as well for chosing us since there are so many places on can buy from so thanks again.

You're gonna be very happy with the new and improved sound quality for sure. We hope to be caught up on our amp backlog soon so when you're ready, we hopefully will be too. Hope you have a great vacation.

Ordered an Amp, Speakers and Antenna yesterday from Shawn at Dr V-Twin. He could not have been any more helpful with making the purchase go as smooooothly as possible.
I have not ordered something by phone in a very long time and it was very nice to speak with someone so pleasant and knowledgeable about the product. Dr V-Twin is all about customer service as has been stated over and over again in this thread.
Thanks Shawn. Looking forward to receiving the the products.

Installed them last night (without Elf amp) and unfortunately, for the money I'm not impressed, fiance wasn't either. The volume is louder but not clearer, very minimal at best. I really hope that the sound quality improves when I install the Elf amp this weekend. Don't get me wrong, if I paid $100 for these speakers I would probably be happy. But $220?
Hoping the amp will give me what I was looking for. I'll let everybody know how it turns out.

Be safe

As has been mentioned a few times in the previous posts, make sure your auto volume compensation is OFF, for the best sound from any speakers. I hated my stock ones, upgraded to the Hog Tunes, and still wasn't happy, then put in the J&M 7 1/4", and still wasn't overly impressed.

Once I turned off the auto volume compensation, they sound much, much better. Apparently the stock radio is being way over driven with the auto volume compensation turned on.

Now I wonder (in retrospect of course) just how bad the Hog Tunes were compared to the J&M's. Well I'm not going back there that's for sure.

Forum members ,,,,,

I have never made it a secret as to how the new J&M Amplifier was configured/designed,,,, nor where it is made ,,,,,

as I have been saying for months, the ARC AUDIO mini 125 is the best amplifier we have found, in a size range that will fit into the Harley fairing ,,,,,

thus the new J&M labeled amp is VERY similar to the ARC amp, but also includes the J&M plug-n-play wiring harnesses and custom designed mounting bracketry etc ,,,,, if all of the extras do not make the J&M version of this amp worth the $$$ to you, then buy the ARC amp anywhere and fabricate the mounting/wiring on your own, simple as that ,,,,

I happen to believe that the J&M amp kit provides good VALUE with all that is included ,,,

also ,,,,, the J&M amp has all the same gain/bass boost/crossover controls/adjustments under the label, for those who might not agree with the J&M factory settings ,,,,,

just remember, driving the input gain levels into distortion by turning them up too far, will not improve the sound at all ,,,, only make it sound "ratty",,,, I personally put a bit of time into setting the amp controls for MAXIMUM volume, while still retaining good clean sound ,,,,,

Happy Easter to all ,,,,

to properly connect your i-pod into the aux input on the Harley HK radio ,,, plug it into the aux jack of course and select AUX on the HK radio, then rotate your i-pod volume to MINIMUM, then adjust your Harley radio volume to maximum, THEN WHILE MUSIC IS PLAYING FROM THE I-POD, rotate the i-pod volume up to a point of maximum BEFORE distortion,,,,,

then leave your i-pod alone, lock it if necessary and make all further volume adjustments from the handlebar volume controls ,,,, also turn OFF the AVC on the HK radio, so that speed does not drive the whole thing into distortion ,,,,

It doesn't really make sense that an IPOD alone will make the music sound bad unless it was a poor quality recording to begin with. More than likely a bad cable, bad junction or incorrect volume settings were the cause.

One thing with upgraded components for car/bike/home. The better your equipment the more they will show the flaws in the source recordings. That is, a poor recording may sound great on your IPod with ear bud headphones or your stock car stereo, will usually sound horrible on a higher end system. For instance music recorded at 128Kbs will sound dull and lifeless on any good stereo system as it's so compressed (meaning they took away lots of the source frequencies to get such small file size). 192Kbs or higher should always be used, 256Kbs is even better if you have the storage room. A good rule of thumb.. garbage in equals garbage out. Quality in equals quality out.

This is also true of XM Radio and Sirius. I used to have an upgraded stereo in my old SUV and listening to XM for music was painful for me compared to CD's or my IPOD (with quality recordings). XM sounds somewhat fine in my wife's car with 100% stock system though.

This begs the question as to why upgrade then. Easy, higher end systems can give sound quality low end ones can't even come close to. This is especially true when volume levels are pushed higher/louder. Just make it a habit of using quality source material in the first place.
