Has anyone installed the chrome grills, if so can you post a pic. After all of the great reviews I have decided to order a pair of the speakers but I dont think I've seen a pic of the chrome grills.

Yes, the new amp will work on the new Ultras, however it is a 2 channel amp only that will control the front speakers and not the rear. After installing several front and rear ultra packages in-house, I can confidently say that you do not need an amp for the rear speakers. The J&M Ultra package we offer turns your bike into a rolling concert hall. All bike functions should still work after the amp install. I can't see any headunit functions to be lost after the amp is installed.

Thanks!

Shawn

The grilles aren't actually chrome. What is actually silver are the actual tweeters themselves. The Grilles are black and you can get the J&M speakers with chrome tweeters. Most people (99.9% it seems) that have purchased from us have opted to go with the black tweeters. That is what we have on our own street glides. I think the black looks way better, but that is my personal opinion.

Let us know if you need any more questions answered.

Thanks!

Most of the people with replys & opinions have the newer bikes with the HK radio, I'd like to know what the 98-05 riders think of the 7.25s, especially without an amp. I've been trying to figure out what the output of the older radios is, but no one seems to know for sure. The problem is if I need an amp then I should get the 2ohm speakers to work best with the amp, I just as soon not spend the extra money on the amp, but if I get the 8olm speakers for the earlier radio & don't like the amount of sound I'm sort of screwed as I don't think the 8ohm speakers are as efficient with an amp. Any opinions & help are appreciated.

Dr. V-Twin. I just ordered the 7.25 J&M speakers from you. How can I turn on and connect the extra two channels of the stock HK head unit to power two extra tweeters that I'd like to mount on my fairing directly in front of my riding position? Any suggestions for waterproof tweeters other than hog tunes? John

We have to call J&M to get the specific answer you need. We will let you know tomorrow as soon as we speak with them. Drew

DTTJ ,,,,,,

you are correct ,,,,,,,

if you are going to keep your 1998-2005 Harley radio ,,, you want to use the 8 ohm versions of the J&M 7.25" speakers ,,,,,, and don't worry about the amp, as the J&M amp will NOT fit on top of the 1998-2005 Harley radio anyway,,,,, we tried every which way we could ,,,,

BUT ,,, the performance of the J&M 7.25" 8 ohm speakers will be excellent with the 98-05 Harley radio ,,,, and that is what you need ,,,,,

please let me know how they work for you ,,,,,,

Being you have already done all the testing why don't you post your results...
I am sure you place a meter about where rider's ears are correct
so how do your speakers compare say...
Stock speakers vs J&M (HK version radio) no amp
Stock speakers vs J&M (Radio sound version radio) no amp
Hogtunes vs J&M (HK radio, Hogtunes with amp, J&M no amp)
Data is king, so where are the numbers, just say they are better is not a point of reference.
