J&M 7.25 Speaker Review

J&M 7.25 Speaker Review

Forum Members ,,,,

we are taking 36 of the new J&M 250watt amps (125 w RMS per channel into 2 ohms) to Bike Week in Daytona Beach,,,,, (This is a PRE-Production pilot release, mass production release date 03-30-2010))

they will be for installation ONLY by J&M technicians, at the J&M audio exhibition trailer, on the south end of the vendor lot at Bruce Rossmeyer's Destination Daytona, just off the interstate ,,,,,

cost for the complete amp kit, (plus installation labor) which includes the amp, custom J&M Stainless Steel mounting bracket system for the amplifier itself AND CB and/or XM modules if equipped, custom made plug-n-play wiring harness, power cable with proper fuses etc, for 2006-2010 Harley Batwing fairing only at this time,,, is $529.99, less 10% Bike Week Discount ((same for all J&M products)) ,,,,

our guys finished the installation of one of these on my own 2010 Ultra LTD yesterday, with the J&M 7.25

Photo of amp installed with fairing clamshell off ,,,, also FLEXPOWER AM/FM/WB antenna ,,,

7.25" J&M speakers, special mounting brackets, CB module, XM module and J&M speaker light rings ,,,

as for the price of the amp kit ,,,and special brackets ,,, yes, it was a challenge getting all the stuff to fit in the fairing properly, with the new amp ,,,,, thankfully we figured out how to do it ,,,,,

Also, I went back and reviewed all of the raw materials costs tonight and have decided that even though some costs are still unknown at this stage, we will sell the 36 complete amp kits at Bike Week for $499.99 less 10%, ($449.99) PLUS installation ,,, and installation cost will depend upon what else we are installing at the same time ,,,, we will know all of that by the time we get there ,,,,

as for where these amps are made ,,, and I will be totally honest here, the amp itself is made in the same factory in China that makes the Arc Audio Mini amp, so obviously the designs are similar ,,,

the wiring harness and SS brackets, hardware etc, at least for now, are made in Tucson AZ USA ,,,, but I might move some of this to Mexico later this year as volume builds and we need to reduce costs further to compete ,,,,,

same old drill ,,, we need to make a profit to stay in business ,, but we have to sell the stuff at competitive prices ,,, and that often means that we cannot make everything in the USA, no matter how much I would like to ,,,,

I love my J&M speakers and you would probably have to pry them out of my dead fingers. Almost 500 might be tough to swallow, but if it is anything as good as my 7.25s I guess I would shell out the cash. Hopefully when they are released to us all the price will be a little lower. I just wish the release date was sooner cant wait any longer. I am worse than my seven year old.

Explain to forum members why they should buy the J & M over the Arc, which IMO , appears you've cloned, at a higher price I might add.........................If I wanted to buy a clone of the Arc wouldn't the Elf be a more economical way to go?????

What is the Elf? The Arc Audio amp J&M is based on is the KS 125.2 Mini...

Does the Elf have the same Rated Output as the KS 125.2 & who makes it?

Looks to me like J&M is making the Arc KS 125.2 Plug & Play with our bikes and to do that is going to cost about $120 (bike week price) for the added stuff to make P&P...

The P&P additions do add some value to the J&M (AA) amp ($329 Arc Audio list)...whether it's worth $120 extra at Daytona (more after) is an individual's choice.
