J&M 7.25 Speaker Review

Just ordered a set from DRVT -- Because of the crazy audio freak I am (most of it is at http://www.massivemastering.com if you're bored), the plan is to do 20Hz-20kHz pink noise analysis with an omnidirectional measurement mic (at an approximate "rider's head" position) using the stock speakers/stereo (2008 FLHX), swap the speakers out and duplicate the analysis with the same settings. I'll post dBSPL (C-weighted, slow response) and frequency response graphs as soon as I get the chance.

Yes - It's going to be in the garage. Yes, it's going to be subject to the peaks/nulls/modes of the architecture of the garage. But I'll do my best to make it a reasonable analysis.

From what I hear (no pun intended), I'm looking forward to being impressed.

JMJOHN, I'm going to be in Vegas for bike fest and am very interested in your speakers that you have for the Road Glide. Will you have these speakers available to listen too at the show?

They were just in Reno for Street Vibs and did in fact have the Road Glide demo there. It sounded good. I can only imagine that they will have the same bike in Vegas with them.

The 7.25" speaker kits for the RoadGlides will be released in about 45 days ,,,

the RoadGlide demo bike that J&M had on display in Reno has our excellent 5.25" speakers in it, with the grill mounted tweeter and midrange ,,,, and this same bike is now in LasVegas for the BikeFest, (((we are setting up tomorrow)) ,,,,

our 2010 Ultra Limited with the 7.25" speakers in the front and the 5.25" speakers in the rear, will also be on display at Las Vegas bike-fest starting thursday afternoon ,,,,, and it IS quite a piece ,,,,,

very sorry for the confusion ,,,,,,

WOW, Thats pretty funny. That was the first question I asked when I walked up. I really wanted to hear the 5.25 speakers but you didnt have one there (in a Road Glide). So, the rep proceeded to show me the Road Glide with the 7.25 speaker????? so he said..;-)) guess I did hear the 5.25. He even grabbed a 7.25 to show me what they look like..LOL oh well, the 5.25 sounded good, can only imagine how the 7.25 sounds.

That's pretty wimpy. I think I'll ad an amp. I just have to decide which one. I am leaning towards the Biketronics that DR. V-twin sells because of the physical size. Are there any other small amps like it?

DBR ,,,,,,

I believe the stock HK Harley radio installed in the 2006-2010 Harleys is about 35 watts RMS per each channel X 4 channels for a total of 140 ,,,,

someone else here may have the exact specs and information, but that amount of RMS power ain't too bad for just the radio unit ,,,

PTAG ,,,,,,,,,,

we are working with a well known company to produce a pretty neat and powerful two channel amp for the Harleys and also a 4 channel model for the Ultras ,,,,,, plug-n-play of course ,,,,

the challenge for the Ultra is to do something with the amp during CB transmission so that RF noises and squeals won't enter the picture ,,,,,

hopefully for release in the first quarter of 2010 ,,,,

until then we will all suffer with the performance of our new 7 1/4s ,,, no doubt THE best performing fairing speakers for your Harley ever made ,,,,,

we are fully booked here at Las Vegas Bike Fest for installations thru tomorrow ,,,,
