calls? I still don't have my divorce. I hired him Jan 5, 2009. I'm in the state of Va. I left my ex in 2003, I got tired of waiting on legal aide so I met with a lawyer who was handling a friend's custody case. She is now having the same issue getting her divorce. I paid him $150 for the consultation. Then we set up a payment plan, $100 a month and he said it would cost some where between $800 and $1000. When I got to $750 I requested a final amount so I can pay him the rest in a lump sum. He stated he would get back to me and that I could expect papers the following week. (This was the beginning of October after multiple attempts to contact him) Since then I have emailed and called with no response. I put read receipts on my emails and he didn't even read some of them. I sent him another email today again requesting the final amount owed and when I can expect the divorce and even asked if he could not deliver I would at least like to get my money back. He did read this email, but did not respond. I am at my wits end. I want to be done with my ex legally so I can move on and have a life. I'm 30 years old and I'd like to get married again and would like to have a real life not restricted by legal documents. My ex doesn't even have contact with our children so it's not as if there's a reason to hold off on the divorce in case we 'get back together' that's definitely not happening. What can I possibly do to get my divorce or to get my money back? When I looked on the Barr site they stated they can't make a lawyer deliver the service or to pay me back. I was also told I can't sue him as I would a regular citizen.... so am I out that money or is there hope?
