I've just tried to install the new flash player?

you know the new flash has come out today
i tried to install it in order for youtube, iplayer ect to work
well i followed the steps and it said the download was successful
i rebooted my comp then went on youtube and it said i needed to install flash
my question is how will i download it ? where have i gone wrong? has this happened to anyone else? what has happened?
