end of summer because it's cheaper? Is this true? It's cheaper to just lease new ones?
 
What??? No way. Of course they don't. That wouldn't even be cheaper. The euthanizing, taking the body away, burial, and buying a new horse next spring would be much more expensive than just feeding the one you have through the winter.

Some camps let people lease the horse and take it home with them over the winter, though.
 
I haven't heard of people doing that before, but i have seen lots of summer camp horses at auction barns
