Is this about right???
I've just had a repair done to it because the engine management light was on and the diagnostics pointed to the cat.
Well I say repair the mechanic managed to blast all the crap off apparently but he said if it happens again in the future I may need a new cat and sensors costing about £700. This can't be right!!

A cat for a Ka is £247.96 here:

Not sure what sensors your mechanic says are bad but as an example the lambda sensor will be about £40.

I suppose if you add labour (though personally I'd do it myself), it might come to £700. Seems pricey though.

You might be able to get one a lot cheaper from a breaker's yard from a crashed car.

EDIT: Noticed you're in Bolton. I know two pretty good mechanics (in Blackburn) who might be able to do the work for you a lot cheaper - send me an email for details.
