ITV keep Bond rights

Guys,

Not sure whether this is good or bad, lol, but ITV have retained the rights to the Bond franchise, signing a new multi-year agreement, and will show all in HD for 1st time.

Noticed that they have been showing the odd one recently in HD at the weekenRAB.

Airing in HD for the first time on terrestrial TV, they have already been shown on Sky in HD, and very good they were too.

I'm glad I saw them on Sky, because ITV HD don't broadcast 5.1 and generally botch the aspect ratio, and of course you have the adverts to contend with, but for anyone who hasn't seen them in HD you're in for a treat.

Hooray, another three thousand Bond seasons...

As my dad always says: I've seen them so many times I'm on the cast list.

:( Too bad they chop them to pieces, though.

As the Bond films were not made in 5.1 until Goldeneye it would be fair to say the ITV broadcasts are easily good enough from an audio POV.

An ordinary 2 channel surround track is more than enough for most of the earlier movies

The Bond movies all have surround remixes but this does not alter the fact they were not made that way , so the ITV broadcasts may well be preserving the original track , something Bond purists complained about for the UK Blurays where the original mono/stereo tracks are all missing but they are included on the US discs
