I am 18 years old. A while back (When I used to live with my mother) I used to work for her daycare. I did the weekends and night shifts. I used to babysit these two kids on the weekends. The father of these kids (Chris) I suspected had a crush on me. I was 16 then so I never asked any questions because of course it would be slightly weird a 25 Year old man confessing to a 16 year old that he has a crush on her. So I moved around a little bit. As I stated before I am 18 now and my Mother told me that he had been asking about me ever since I moved away. He asked her for my number but she never gave it to him because she said she wanted to give his number to me so that I could make the decision myself. Now mind you I did have a crush on him but as I said before..It would be weird. So I get his number and I text him and we talk and now I like him even more and he said he feels the same way. I've been talking to a few of my friends about it and they all say that I'm stupid. They say that the only reason a 27 year old man would want an 18 year old his for sex or to "shape or mold you into what he wants you to be." But we haven't had sex or even talked about it and he's told me time and time again and even SHOWN me that he doesn't want me to change. He likes the way I am. I could see how it might be weird because I did use to babysit for him and his ex girlfriend. I completely and totally understand that part. But what I don't understand is what the big deal is about the age difference. I basically came on here to get some advice from somebody else so that it can be explained to me why everybody has such a COW about this. The only reason I can come up with is because it is against SOCIETY'S rules for younger women to date older men. Nobody is actually giving me a reason why it's so horrible. They just say "Because he's so much older than you." So the reason why I shouldn't be dating him is because he's so much older than me? And the reason why his age is a problem is because he's so much older than me? Still not making any sense. Somebody tell me something.
