It's been said before: Diet is the cure.

I've been on a diet for a while now. And I am 98% acne free. I get 1 pimple every 2 or 3 weeks but that's it. Other then that my face is all clear!! You do have to wash your face morning and night but you don't have to use a special cream or anything. I use clearasil daily face wash and my face is just looking great. Also taking your multivitamin might help too. I heard that vitamin A and zinc are good for the acne. If you're wondering what vitamin I'm taking... I'm taking "Alive" by natures way. I got recommended to it on this site in the vitamins and supplements board.

Also, I don't drink much sugars. I stick to water but if I have to drink something flavored then it is crystal light, diet soda, or some orange juice here and there.

Glad it works for you, but it doesn't work for everyone. I know...because I know it's not diet that causes my acne because with 2 pregnancies I was completely clear and didn't break out until about 6 months after (when my period came back). So, for me, it's hormonal and has little, if anything, to do with food.
I am now doing something that seems to really be helping my acne. I hope I'm not jinxing myself by saying so.
I am taking the following vitamins:
Fish oil
Green Tea
Penatal (why not, good stuff in them)
And I started using a new night cream that I love, it's called Beauty Boost and it's made by America Beauty (from Kohl's Dept. store) It got really good reviews on a skincare review site that I frequent so I had to try it. It has made a big difference in my skin.
I also got a new foundation that is light and non pore clogging, it's very good...but pricey. It's made by Borghese-its a powder foundation. I love it. Though, it may be too soon to tell if it will infact break me out, but so far so good!
Anyway- I just think everyone is different. What will work for some will not work for others.

for me it's the opposite. The more I do to my face the worse it gets(accutane, retin-a, etc) so I stopped doing all that and stopped worrying about my acne and all of a sudden when I started dieting it all went away(i know it sounRAB a little crazy just because of a diet). I'm also taking those vitamins you said. I forgot to mention in my list. Green Tea and fish oil. That helps a lot!

When you say diet are you referring to a diet intended for losing weight or just changing your diet to exclude certain fooRAB but not necessarily to lose weight?

I don't know if it's against the rules to post nuraber of calories on this board, but what diet I am on is intended to lose weight. I'm not eating candies are nothing like that in my diet.

Saphire, with me it's a low sugar diet. We've discussed it on here before, I think the general verdict seems to be that everyone has their own unique diet that will cure their acne. Different people have different triggers, you know. Some of the more common ones though are junk food, sugar, oranges...

With me, eating almost as much protein as I do carbs at every meal not only stabilizes my blood sugar but keeps my face relatively clear. It's never been totally clear, but then I've never been able to totally stop eating refined sugar and totally balance complex sugar. And I'll tell you that when I'm just eating whatever I want, my face is HORRIBLE. I look like a different person.

Some dietary changes that worked for me:
- Cut down on processed sugars, sweeteners, and artificial flavors (in fact, I completely avoid that stuff in my diet now)
- Completely stop eating junk food and fast food
- Low fat fooRAB
- Cut down on most dairy products (any dairy product with 2% fat or more would always cause acne breakouts on me)
- Started drinking more water and green tea/ginseng
- Started eating more vegetables, particularly carrots (they contain a lot of vitamin A)
- Started eating more fooRAB containing fiber and zinc
- Started drinking Aloe Vera juice/gel

lol I agree with you 100%. I just tried a sprite instead of the "low" sugar lemonade at subway and I broke out a couple pimples. One huge one on my neck. I also stopped taking my vitamins for a few days to see if this what was helping. So I think the key to stopping horrible acne is going on a low sugar diet. Not eating horribly. And taking your vitamins. :)
