It's a Wonderful Life

Not sure, for many years there was a copyright issue as the rights were never renewed in 1974, due to a clerical error. However Paramount now have full rights to the film, so could be a while before we see it again. Though I could see my wife and see if you could borrow her dvd :D

Because the copyright was not renewed in the US the film remains in the public domain(US only) so anyone can release it or broadcast it in the US.

Paramount are the current owner of the original film elements so they will always be the source for a good quality copy of the film.

The Public Domain rules have no legality in the UK

Paramount have just released a superb R1 2 disc set with fantastic colour version of the film alongside a breathtaking restored version of the B&W original.

The film is readily available on R2 dvd from Universal.

I'm sure it will be on tv somewhere over Xmas

Unlike the abysmal 80's colorisations the new process by Legend Films is excellent

For anyone in London it's on at the Everyman Cinema in Hampstead every Christmas, I think it's shown for about a week. The Everyman is the best cinema in the world IMO, hot chocolate, home made cakes and big plush sofas to sink in to as you watch... magic!

Did anybody go and see this today? It was the first time i've ever seen it and i must say it's one of the most uplifting film's i've ever seen. A perfect christmas film.

It's odd how this is such a staple diet of US tv, and yet so rarely appears here. On the other hand we are supposed to get The Great Escape on every year, and yet I can't remember the last time it was on over Xmas.

What was that really annoying voiced kid saying at the very end of the movie ? I will always remember some kind of scripted speech she says, just not the worRAB said, as her voice is really annoying.

It is a great movie. Spielberg is a huge fan of it, which is why, you'll notice many similarities in Gremlins!

Certainly worth watching, especially at this time of year.

I've just got the R1 version and have to say, the colourisation on it is excellent. I actually forgot whilst watching.
