Itchy Thumb = Allergy?

Just last night, the tip of my thurab began itching. It's not unbearable, just enough to be annoying, but it has continued into this morning. I did a search and it came up that itchy digits could sometimes be a symptom of diabetes, but I highly doubt this is the cause of the thurab tip itching, as I have never had any other diabetic symptoms and because the itching popped up overnight. Has anyone ever have this happen to them? Could it be an allergy of somesort? If so, why just the tip of the thurab itching? Help - this is driving me nuts!
 
I have the same type of thing on the bottom of my foot. The dr. said it is exzema, which walks hand in had with allergies.
