itching, cant sleep

So since i have been a kid (dont know how long its been happening) i have been having a problem on and off where my hands get very itchy (and alot of the time painfull) it also affects my feet a little bit but it nothing like as bad as my hands get sometimes i go a few months without bother but it does come back now and then, i thought it might be an allergic reaction to something but cant see a link when it happens it is particularly bad tonight and ive not changed detergent and has been a few days since changing sheets, no change in soap or anything like that.

when it happens my hands are a bit red and puffy, also my veins are alot more pronounced, sort of puffed out looking.

im not sure if i should see the doctor or if itd be stupid as its likely just an allergy?

any advice or ideas are appreciated as its really starting to annoy me because it stops me sleeping

I think you should see a doctor, allergic dermatitis usually has a rash. Even if it is an allergy, by going to the doc you can find out to what (maybe nickel?) and avoid it.

There are other disorders that cause chronic itchy hands and feet, like Raynaud's Syndrome, vascular problems, liver problems, thyroid problems, etc.
