Italian Renaissance?

I am having trouble with a project for school and i was wondering if you guys can help me....what are some names of important inventors from the Italian Renaissance? I want to do my report on someone that not many people in my class have heard about (so no Da Vinci, and other famous ones).....also, i would like to write about someone who invented something that had a big impact on the world, or changed the world in some way....and that maybe their inventions are used in our lives today
(are there any italian renaissance women inventors?)
