A little over a month ago i started experiencing a small jabbing pain on the left side of my back in the mid section, when i take a deep breath.I waited the month out to see if it would improve and it didn't. I finally went to get an x-ray and my lungs and bones showed no problems so they said it's most likely muscle pain. It's now a week later and the pain is getting worse! It hurts when i bend or move or sleep and its spreading to the right side now. Has anyone experienced this?

I really believe this has nothing to do with your back but as you doctor suggest may be a muscle such as a spasm which are not fun at all. Sorry.

Could you by any chance have Pleurisy? I know that causes severe pain when you breath. Have you been doing any coughing? Run a fever? I don't think you have to run a fever. I had a neice who came down with pleurisy as a result of playing basketball.

Hope you get some relief.

Do you have any thoracic spinal issues that you are aware of? Thoracic pain usually occurs around your ribs. I have a lot of trouble breathing in, rolling over in bed, pretty much any twisting at all. Bending over is ok but to the sides hurts. This was caused by a herniated disc in my thoracic.

Hello,

To the OP, I am experiencing the same "mid-back pain" but on my right side. It's especially bad when I try to breathe deeply or hold my breath for a longer period of time (i.e. a yoga breath). I just had a thoraic x-ray done yesterday, and they will look to see if anything shows up.

I want an MRI though, but keep getting denied. Anyway, please let me know what else you find out about your issues.
