ISTD Modern Ballroom and Latin American dance?

I'm fourteen and have been dancing ballroom and latin since I was six. It's only me and one other girl in my dance class and we're the 'top "children's" class' in the dance school. The other girl in my class is almost nineteen. We're about to take Gold Star 1 and I was wondering if I was particularly ahead for my age, considering she's so much older than me and people my age are still on bronze grades, or if they all just started late?
