i discuss? i have an issue with a co-worker. at first he used to hit on me and say dirty things to me. when i asked him to stop and told him i'm not interested in him his attitude changed completely. now he's a complete a$$hole to me and snaps and yells at me all the time in front of other employees. i need to approach HR about him.. what do i tell HR? everything in detail? he's made rude comments to me about Religion as well, and although i'm not religious i find what he's had to say very offensive. he also says really sexist things to me. what do i tell HR, how detailed do i get, and what do i leave out?

will he get fired? what steps do they usually take? do i inform my direct boss?

You seem to have allowed this to go on much too long. Do inform your immedicate supervisor and see what happens. If nothing is done, then you need to take the issue to either human resources or another supervisor in a higher position. What to say isn't the issure here. Your problem is he is overstepping his bounds and being unfair to you. Good luck.

Most HR departments take sexual harassment very seriously and so should you.

Why don't you start with what you have shared on Yahoo Answers?
He may not get fired, but expect some sort of investigation to take place, and yes you should certainly tell your boss.
