Issues with 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

I had an issue with my serpentine belt however, I needed to my my truck from the location where it was broke down (grocery store) so I put the old belt back on to move it and it popped right off - not sure why; I checked the diagram several times to make sure I had it on correctly but right when I started the truck the belt fell off again however, since it was running I brought it home. My nephew DID advise me NOT to drive it anymore until I re-did the belt or bought a new one however, I did not listen, I ran to the store - why I didn't take the belt completely off is beyond me!!! Cuz now I'm just ticked at myself - anyway...
I'm trying to find out what a part is that the belt seemed to disconnect or damage. At first I thought it was break fluid or steering fluid but I'm not sure. It was brownish-red in color - almost an 'old blood' color. I found the piece that came disconnected and my best way to describe it would be to say it looks like a male/female piece like you would use on an air drill. There are actually two..one leads to a metal pipe but it is the second one that is disconnected and it's tubing is black - the male piece is a very small (about the size of a pencil) open piece - I'm assuming that's where the fluid comes from...my problem is I dont know what this piece is in order to find out if it's a 'snap back on', broken piece, or etc. I have looked for diagrams to help me but cant seem to find anything.
