I have a 2002 Dodge Dakota SLT with 94k miles. It has had some major issues with the power steering for the past two years. I have replaced the power steering pump twice as recommend by my technicians within the past 4 years, most recently back in November. When the engine is cold I am unable to turn the steering wheel at all until it warms up and even then I still have to break it out of whatever is keeping it from turning. When it is running it, It makes a horribly loud sound that I can't even explain (doesn't sound like a whining noise as with a belt) when I turn corners. You can feel it in the steering wheel. I honestly have no idea what it could be. Maybe the truck is just falling apart? I am just hoping maybe someone else might have experienced an issue similar to this to give me some insight in what I can expect to do whether I decide to take it in to the shop or to just get rid of it.
