Issue with Canon Digital Photo Professional on Mac?

I have recently made the change from PC to Mac. I have a Canon SLR and so use the software shipped with the camera for managing my images. On my PC when i downloaded images from my camera onto my PC it would automatically place the images in files determined by the date taken. However on my Mac this isn't the case. Instead all the images are just dumped in the 'Pictures' folder leaving me to manually sort them. Solutions? I am using Digital Photo Professional 3.0.2.6 on OS X. Thanks.
