Issue with a refurbished phone - Blackberry?

I bought a refurbished Blackberry RIM 8703 e and activated it. When I tried to use it, the message "Please cofirm the current date and time" shows up. I use the track ball on the side and press "OK", but nothing happens. I have also tried pressing "Edit". The screen is not frozen, but I think it may be a problem with the trackball. How can this be fixed?
