Mark B expresses, eloquently, the view of the Israeli state which is, essentially, that Israel will do exactly what it wants to do, irrespective of international law or condemnation, and demand that the Palestinians lie down in the dirt and enjoy being trodden on by the Israeli state.
There are 2 parties to the dispute.
It is most unlikely that any kind of settlement will be reached when one side (Israel) continues to ignore international law yet demands that the other does so.
It is 58 years since the invasion of the West Bank, and at least 55 years past time that the USA and the international community as a whole imposed sanctions and withdrew all aid, humanitarian and military, from Israel.
But my guess is that they won't.
Such withdrawal of support might have resulted in meaningful peace negotiations decades ago.
