Isn't this still true in the upcoming elections?

In the 2006 mid-term elections Pennsylvania Democrat Congressman Paul Kanjorski said about the Iraq war, "I'll tell you my impression. We really in this last election, when I say we ... the Democrats ... that if we won the Congressional elections we could stop the war. Now anybody was a good student of government would know that wasn't true. But you know ... the temptation to want to win back the Congress ... we sort of stretched the facts, and the people ate it up."

Don't believe it? See: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nc5lHXkrdQ8

Definitely. There is absolutely no way to determine how long, when, where or under what circumstances a time frame can be set for withdrawal from Iraq. There a million imponderables at work. Troops, equipment, security concerns, effect on civilians, effect on Iraqis who have worked with the US. Redeployment is almost always more costly then the original deployment. And in the case of Iraq, a civil war, is almost inevitable.
