isn't it ridiculous to compare the current "War on Terror" with WW2?

WW2 was a 4 year daily war which saw thousands of American dead in single days....how can the Right compare WW2 to Iraq and say that the president can decide the Constitution is just a general guide instead of the law of the land? FDR was faced with annihilation at the hands of 2 very powerful modern countries...how can they compare the acts of Bush to FDR's?

FDR also interred thousands of American citizens. Kept a lid on the media and got rid of any anti war protesters. FDR also was allowed to fight the war without kid gloves on.

This war was made up for the continued fuel for the industrial wealthy. It was so phony that it never got real support from the American people. You can't win a war without the support of the People.

so during a war, a president can lock up tens of thousands of us citizens and deprive them of their property just becuase of where they or their parents were born?

We killed more japanese civilians in two days of firebombing than we have Iraqi civilians in 7 years of war!

completely different situations. completely different choices to make. Just as difficult.

No comparison. This particular kind of asymetrical warfare is unique to recent history -- where a big bully nation like the U.S. can totally destroy a country's infrastructure and arguably their culture without recrimination.

FDR didn't have millions of enemy sympathizers voting for his political enemies either.
