Isn't it curious how quickly we forget?

I was just thinking that it has really only been in the last 60 years or so that babies have been fed formula over breast milk. I know that breast milk substitutes have been around for about 100 years, but that is still a pretty short time in the grand scheme of things ya know?

I am not a breast feeding 'nazi'. Yes, I do breast feed my son, but fully support formula feeding if that is what parents choose.

I just find it fascinating that in the pst 60-100 years we have 'forgotten' how to feed our children. My only response is ever: 'If breast feeding was actually hard to do, and a lot of women had a hard time producing milk, then we as a species would not have gotten here.'

Again, I am NOT knocking ANYONE for formula feeding their children, everyone has their own reasons for doing what they do, and that's great. I breastfed because I am a SAHM and I can. If I had a 9-5 I know I would be formula feeding.

I was just wondering if anyone else has ever thought about this too? Am I the only one who thinks that maybe, sometimes, we humans have actually gotten too smart for our own good?
